It is important to note that this procedure cannot be used on all problems, as it only repairs minor cosmetic issues. It may, for example, be used to fix teeth that are too long. However, if your teeth are extremely crooked, cosmetic contouring may not be the most appropriate solution for you because even though the procedure involves removing some enamel from your teeth, we need to leave some of it in place for safety reasons.
Some quick tips about cosmetic contouring: It does not require any aftercare maintenance other than regular dental hygiene. We may recommend a follow-up fluoride treatment. You should also use a toothpaste that contains a high concentration of fluoride. Fluoride strengthens your enamel and protects your teeth from decay. You should also wear a night guard to protect your teeth especially if you have the habit of grinding or clenching your teeth. You should avoid chewing on your fingernails, ice, or other hard objects. All of these tips will help to make your cosmetic contouring last a lifetime.
